NFL star Chad Johnson and his wife Evelyn Lozada have only been married for a month when Johnson’s neighbor made a 911 call after Evelyn ran to the neighbor’s house while Johnson was looking for her.
Reports say that an argument between the newly married couple sparked when Lozada found a receipt for condoms in the trunk of Johnson’s car. This led to the disgraced American football star allegedly head-butting his wife on Sunday.
Injured Lozada, 36, reportedly ran to her next door neighbor, who immediately called 911 and explained the situation in hushed tones. He urged 911 to send police to his home but to ‘keep it quiet because he’s a high profile person’.
The 911 call from Johnson’s neighbor said: “I have somebody here at my house that was in a little domestic dispute with their husband and I think we need to have a police officer come over here and talk to her.”
Lozada had a ‘nice cut on her forehead’, the neighbor said.
The neighbor further explained: “I think it was just a misunderstanding but we’re worried that he’s going to come and get upset.”
During the call, the neighbor was also heard whispering to Lozada and relaying her messages back to the emergency operator. Lozada said that she believed Johnson was either in the house or was driving around the neighborhood looking for her. She said he drove a black matte Smart car.
The 911 call was released Monday evening after Johnson was bailed out on a bond. He was also kicked off the Miami Dolphins shortly afterwards.
