Amy Winehouse’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil is currently fighting for his life after a drink and drug binge. Winehouse’s dad Mitch has come forward to urge Amy’s fans to pray for the star’s former husband.
Blake, 30, was found choking by partner Sarah Aspin last Friday. He was rushed to a hospital in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire and was found to have suffered from multiple organ failure.
As news of the incident broke out, Mitch Winehouse said that it was ‘terrible news’. He reminded Amy’s fans that his daughter ‘loved’ Blake and that they should ‘pray for his recovery’.
Blake, a recovering drug addict, had reportedly gone drinking with a friend the day prior to the incident. Ms. Aspin, mother of Blake’s 15-month-old son, believes her partner might have taken an illicit substance and that she is now trying to prepare herself ‘that he may never wake up’. He is now on life support after doctors put him in a come to help his body recover.
Miss Aspin said: “They let me in to hold his hand after 45 minutes. I found out later that they did that because they thought he was going to die.”
Aside from his history with heroin, Fielder-Civil has also gotten in trouble with the law. In 2008, he was jailed for assault, and last year he was also jailed for burglary and imitation firearm possession.
