Cycling champ Bradley Wiggins said yesterday that he has no plans of shaving off his lucky sideburns so as not to jinx his performance at the Olympics. The cycling hero will be bidding for the gold in the upcoming games and the trademark tufts will stay in place.
Following Wiggins’ historic Tour de France victory, the champ is all geared up for the games and even turned down the Tour’s celebration bashes that would have allowed him to relax with his family. The Brit cyclist – the first ever to win the Tour – is expecting to be in top form during his event at the Olympics, saying that it will be a mere ’20-mile leg-stretcher’ and that it will take him ‘about an hour’.
Of his sideburns, he said: “I’ve thought about shaving them off but as they’ve become a bit of a talking point, I don’t dare now.”
Recently, however, the champ went home to relax with his wife and kids for a few days before the games. On Wednesday, Wiggins will drive to London for the Olympics. If he wins, he will get his seventh Olympic medal. If he gets a gold, it will be his fourth.
Fans are pretty excited for the cycling hero, who has also helped make cycling more popular.
