It didn’t take long for Bradley Wiggins to realize what a mistake it was to attend an Adidas Olympics party without his gold medal. Wiggins won a gold for his time trial cycling event, but failed to bring it with him to the party.
So while the other winners in attendance posed happily with their own medals, Wiggins had to borrow a fellow Olympian’s award.
Jessica Ennis, a heptathlon champion, stepped in and lent Wiggins her medal so he could pretend it was his for a few photo ops.
Both athletes were two of the most celebrated Olympics gold medalists who partied at the Adidas Underground party in East London. The party featured a Stones Roses gig, which was kept under wraps.
After posing with a borrowed gold medal, Bradley stepped up and posed with some celebrities who came out to congratulate the winners. Bradley was seen in one photograph posing with singer Paul Weller.
His reward came after a lot of hard work paid off: Wiggins recently became the first man to win the Tour de France and an Olympic gold medal in the same year. His performance at the 44-kilometre route event won him more accolades as he finished in 50 minutes and 39 seconds. The medal is his fourth Olympic gold and his seventh medal in all.
