Celebs and politics
Clint Eastwood
The 'In the Line of Fire' star and veteran director has also been known to be somewhat outspoken in the political world. His one foray into public office was successful - he was elected as the Mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California from 1986-88 but didn't continue the role as his filmmaking took priority.
Eastwood has been a registered Republican but considers himself a Libertarian; his self proclaimed philosophy is: "Everyone leaves everyone else alone". The multiple Oscar winner also reportedly declined the opportunity to be John McCain's running mate, jokingly stating that he'd only settle for "being top of the ticket."
