Entertainment’s best and worst comebacks
Harrison Ford – ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ (2008) – MISS
Many actors have fallen victim to a belated, inferior sequel for an epic pay cheque, but Harrison Ford’s attempt a career kick-start was one of the worst, especially given the high quality of the three films that preceded it.
Early teaser pictures showed Ford in his classic Indy get-up looking fantastic for his age, creating a massive buzz. When the trailers surfaced, it just got better – Ford was obviously in tip top condition and the action looked fun and frantic.
But the finished film was a whole other animal. After a great start, a dodgy family plotline, pointless chase scenes, ill-fitting chemistry, a returning character who was annoying in ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ in the first place and a coda that involved aliens, managed to scupper one of the most anticipated films of the new millennium. It didn't stop everyone going to see it though.
