Charlie's evil scheme
TV
09:30 21 August 2006
'Coronation Street' hairdresser Maria Sutherland is to become the victim of a terrifying hate campaign, carried out by bullying builder Charlie Stubbs.
The sexy stylist, played by actress Samia Smith, went to bed with the hunky workman, who is also her landlord, last week after falling for his charms.
However, Maria starts to have doubts about having an affair with Charlie, who is living with his girlfriend Tracy Barlow, and decides to call their fling off.
Determined to carry on their affair, Charlie decides to launch a campaign of terror against his tenant.
The builder, portrayed by actor Bill Ward, burgles and wrecks her flat, leaving Maria terrified.
A series insider is quoted by Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "Charlie excels himself with his cowardly raid. Later, he'll play the hero. When the police leave, he arrives as the caring landlord offering to help Maria tidy up."
Charlie is left delighted when his evil plan works and petrified Maria kisses him after he helps her sort out the flat he has ransacked.
The terrified hairdresser even tells him she wouldn't know what she would have done without him.
