The two children, aged eight and five, was reportedly to have said that they wanted to be holy warriors when they grew up. This then inspired their mother to write a book entitled “I Want To Be A Mujahid.” 

Samantha Lewthwaite, now hunted by police in East Africa, wasn’t born into the Muslim religion. Born British, Samantha used to be a Home Counties schoolgirl before she converted to the Muslim faith and eventually became known as the White Widow, when her first husband and the father of her two children carried out the worst terrorist bombing in England in 2005. The bombing, which occurred in a Piccadilly Line Tube train near King’s Cross, killed 26 people. Following this, Samantha, then 28, denounced her husband and faded into the background. 

It was only earlier this year that she appeared again, this time as a suspect for a foiled plan to blow up some tourists in Kenya. She again made headlines when she was revealed as the prime suspect behind a grenade attack in a bar in Kenya where tourists were watching the Euro 2012 match. The three fatalities included a young boy.

Currently, Samantha is believed to be married to her second husband, another British terror suspect Habib Saleh Ghani, and that the two are in hiding. Her husband, who is said to call himself ‘Osama’, is described as “extremely dangerous” by British police. 

The widow’s notes, which were found at the last house she was known to have rented in Mombasa, Kenya, also described Samantha’s prayer to Allah when she asked for a suitable marriage. According to the note, she wanted a man who would “go forth and give all he could for Allah and live a life of terrorizing the disbelievers as they have us.” The note was said to have concluded that Allah had granted her wish and had given her “better.”
