For weeks, pop stars Chris Brown and Rihanna have been making headlines about a possible reconciliation. After telling Oprah that Brown is still the love of her life, Rihanna was photographed kissing her ex at the MTV VMAs recently.
Chris Brown has now unveiled a tattoo on his neck, and this too stirred controversy. Several people are claiming the tattoo looked like battered Rihanna. It can be recalled that the couple broke up on 2009 following an incident where Brown assaulted Rihanna. The R&B singer was sentenced to 180-day community service.
However, Brown denied that his neck tattoo depicts Rihanna’s bruised face. He explained that it is a Mexican-themed skull.
This statement was backed up by his tattoo artist and his spokesperson saying: "His tattoo is a sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a MAC cosmetics design he saw. It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported."
In Rihanna’s tell-all interview with Oprah in August, the singer admitted that after the restraining order against Brown was dropped, the former couple have been working on their friendship. She told Oprah, as quoted by Digital Spy: “We've been working on our friendship again and now we're very close friends. And that's not anything we're going to try to change.”
