Clint Eastwood talks about his ‘unorthodox’ convention speech for the first time

Actor Clint Eastwood says people who criticize his convention speech are obviously “lefties”...

82-year old actor Client Eastwood delivered a rather unorthodox speech at Republican National Convention, where he had an imaginary conversation with President Obama.

His speech drew widespread criticism and for the first time, Eastwood talked about his speech saying people who didn’t understand what he said were obviously from‘the left’. 

Eastwood talked to an empty chair and asked, as quoted by the BBC: "Mr President, how do you handle promises that you have made when you were running for election, and how do you handle them? I mean, what do you say to people?"

He later added: "When somebody doesn't do the job, you gotta let'em go." 

The crowd was stunned and some people were shocked and speechless. CNN host Howard Kurtz described it as the "weirdest convention moment I have ever seen".

Allegedly, even Republican Party advisers didn’t give their seal of approval calling the speech “weird” and “strange.”

The actor explained what happened to his hometown newspaper as picked up on by the BBC: “There was a stool there, and some fella kept asking me if I wanted to sit down. When I saw the stool sitting there, it gave me the idea. I’ll just put the stool out there and I’ll talk to Mr. Obama and ask him why he didn’t keep all of the promises he made to everybody … The guy said, ‘You mean you want it at the podium?’ and I said, ‘No, just put it right there next to it.’” 

He added: “President Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people. Romney and Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that’s what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle.”
