Is Britain becoming a surveillance society?
Clusters of cameras
As Swindon scraps its speed cameras the nation wondered if a future without the constant threat of tickets was on the cards. Then Norfolk proved that wasn't the case, declaring that it would play host to a pilot scheme for new, intelligent cameras.
These cameras will operate in clusters around road systems. Beaming back traffic speeds to a processing centre, they will be able to calculate a vehicle's speed when its out of sight and prosecute regardless.
