Microsoft has issued 11 new security updates as part of its monthly patch distribution.

The updates fix issues with the following programs:

• Microsoft Office
• Microsoft Internet Explorer
• Microsoft Host Integration Server
• Active Directory
• Windows Kernel
• Windows Internet Printing Service
• Microsoft Windows
• Microsoft Windows 2000

The update fixes four flaws listed as 'critical', the most urgent that the company provides. They also address six flaws listed as 'important', the second most urgent, as well as one flaw listed as 'moderate'.

They fix weaknesses in the programs that if exploited could allow somebody to take control of the applications to alter and delete data.

The patches solve problems that can affect both PC users and Mac users.

All Windows users, including those with Vista, are urged to apply the update immediately by clicking on the provided link.

This will enable you to download critical component updates, service packs, security fixes, patches and free upgrades to selected Windows components.
