‘Terminator 2’ is usually remembered for its mind-bending special effects work that introduced one of cinema’s greatest villains – the ruthlessly efficient shape-shifting liquid metal T-1000 (perfectly played with straight-laced authority by Robert Patrick).

The sequel also added to the original by converting Arnold Schwarzenegger into the Terminator with a heart, making him a father figure to target John Conner (Edward Furlong) and promoting the mother Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) into a hardened warrior. Rarely is a sequel so different and so vital.
