Bafta admits awards error

Bafta have blamed "human error" on a blunder that saw Channel 4 programmes excluded from the voting at the 2010 awards.
Academy members were not able to vote for "a number" of programmes including 'Chris Moyles' Quiz Night' and 'Alan Carr: Chatty Man', The Independent reports.
Bafta declined to exactly which programmes had been missed, but illusionist Derren Brown's 'The Events' was also left off form by mistake.
The first round of online voting for this year's awards opened on Tuesday (March 2).
However, it was at this point that a series of omissions were noticed.
"The lists were immediately investigated, a human error discovered and amendments made online that afternoon," a Baftas representative said.
When the error was noticed hundreds of members had already voted, totalling around 7%.

However instead of restarting the process, Bafta opted to contact those who had already cast their choices, giving them the full list and option to change their nomination.
"Bafta is satisfied that the entries originally omitted have been presented fairly to every voter in this first round and that neither the integrity of the voting process, nor the chances of any entrant have been affected in any way as a result of this error," the Academy representative added.
The annual Bafta Television Awards, which started in 1954, are considered the most prestigious awards in the industry.
