Simon Cowell’s publicist Max Clifford has confirmed that the relationship between the music mogul and Dannii Minogue did happen.

The claims, which were made in Tom Bower’s unauthorised biography The Intimate Life Of Simon Cowell, claimed that the pair were "genuinely in love".

Clifford told Exclusive TV:

"Yes - he did have a relationship with Dannii.

"Everyone who knows Simon knows he keeps his private life as private as possible. But [it's] the truth."

Criticising Bower, Clifford added:

"It was Simon's choice, but my attitude is you don't talk to someone like Tom Bower, he's only really looking for the controversial stuff. It was a mistake."

Former X Factor judge Sharon Osborne was also asked about the relationships, telling The Mirror:

"Dannii wanted to be the mistress of Simon - and the mistress of X Factor. But I didn’t leave the show because Simon and Dannii were f******, I left because she became unbearable.

"She started bossing everyone around, even the producers."

She added:

"All Dannii wanted to do was f*** Simon Cowell. That’s why she was on the show."
