Boardwalk Empire, The Help triumph at SAG awards

Boardwalk Empire has taken home two prizes at the 18th annual Screen Actors Guild awards, while film The Help came away with three.

The cast of the HBO prohibition-era drama were awarded the ensemble award, while the show's lead Steve Buscemi was given the given the Outstanding Performance By a Male Actor in a Drama series gong for his role.

Based on the best-selling book, The Help won Best Cast, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress prizes at the ceremony which was held on 29 January.

Kate Winslet won Outstanding Performance for a Female Actor in a drama for her role in HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce; a part that has already bagged Winslet both a Primetime Emmy award and a Golden Globe. 

Last surviving Golden Girl Betty White was also recognised for her role in Hot in Cleveland, saying:

"Oh my dears, my dears, my… I don't think they can read. I think they made a terrible mistake."

She went on to praise co-stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick, adding that the win was for all four of them, adding:

"I'm not gonna let them keep this, but I'll let them see it."
