Buffy star gives birth

'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' star Sarah Michelle Gellar and her husband Freddie Prinze Jr have welcomed their first child.

The couple named have their newborn daughter Charlotte Grace Prinze.

A spokeswoman for the TV star stated that the baby was born on Saturday.

It is the first child for the acting duo. They met in 1997 while filming 'I Know What You Did Last Summer', marrying five years later.

In the same year (2002), they co-starred in a popular but critically panned big screen version of the children's TV programme 'Scooby Doo'.

Gellar shot to fame after playing Buffy Summers in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' series and its spin-off 'Angel'.

She retired the gothic role in 2003, but there have been talks of a film sequel. Before that, Gellar's next project is playing a suicidal woman in the film 'Veronika Decides To Die'. Its American release date is November.

Meanwhile, Freddie Prinze Jr will star in the upcoming season of real-time action series '24'.
