Naomi Watts for Diano biopic

Naomi Watts has been officially cast as Princess Diana in the forthcoming biopic Caught in Flight.
The UK-born Oscar-nominated actress, whose is best known for her roles in King Kong and Mulholland Drive, has secured the coveted role in German filmmaker Oliver Hirschbieel’s movie.
It was first reported last year that The Help’s Jessica Chastain had taken the part in the film.
The biopic will cover the last two years of the Princess's life as she dealt with her marriage breakdown and her transformation into a "major international campaigner and humanitarian".

Watts said:
"It is such an honour to be able to play this iconic role - Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen.”
Director Hirschbiegel added:
"I am delighted to have such a truly exceptional actress who embodies the warmth, humanity and empathy of such a global icon as Princess Diana.”
A rival Diana, Princess of Wales biopic is also in the works. Charlize Theron and Carey Mulligan are up for the lead role in producer Stephen Evans’ film. Ewan McGregor is also set to play the part of the late Princess’s bodyguard, Ken Wharfe.
