The 10 most confusing films ever made
10. 'A Clockwork Orange' (1971)
The first of two Stanley Kubrick films on LoveFilm's list of the most confusing list, 'A Clockwork Orange' was so controversial, its own director even banned the film due to the extreme sexual violence which inspired real-life re-enactments.
The film's surrealist, absurd tone takes us on a trip through a dystopian Britain where youth gangs run riot (and enjoy a mixture of "rape, ultra-violence and Beethoven"). It then comments on the government's use of psychotherapy and extreme medical devices, as Kubrick depicts the inner workings of the crazed Alex (Malcom McDowell).
