The greatest mentors in the movies
Mr Han – 'The Karate Kid' (2010)
Every hero has a teacher - someone who supports them and helps them achieve their full potential. To celebrate the release of 'The Karate Kid' we take a closer look at the guru's who coached our heroes, turned them into the icons we love and taught us a thing or two along the way.
When Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) is getting beat up at school he befriends the maintenance man. But what good is a maintenance man as a mentor? A great deal if they're secretly a Kung Fu master like Mr Han (Jackie Chan)! Through Mr Han's wisdom and sarcasm he is able to teach his young pupil not only how to defend himself but a lesson in growing up in the process.
Top quotes:
Dre Parker: "You don't know the rules?"
Mr Han: "Simple. You hit him, don't let him hit you."
