Hairspray star 'working at hair salon'

Hairspray star, Nikki Blonsky, is currently working at a hair salon as she struggles to land any new Hollywood work, it has been revealed.

The 23-year-old starred alongside John Travolta and Zac Efron in the hit film just four years ago for which she was nominated for a Best Actress award.

However, it seems times are tough for the actress in Hollywood at the moment, as she has only had a few minor roles in films and TV shows since, including an appearance in an episode of Ugly Betty.

Blonsky is currently working in her hometown of Great Neck at Superstar Hairstylist, where her duties range from applying make-up and styling hair to sweeping the floors; a world away from her Hollywood star status just a few years ago.

Rosa, Nikki’s first ever customer, was shocked to see the actress working at the salon, telling the Mail Online:

"I couldn't believe it. She was sweeping up hair but also doing people's make up. I asked her if she was still acting and she said that she is auditioning a lot, but she needs a day job too.

After hearing the story has been published, Blonsky took to her Twitter page to tell fans that she hasn’t given up her dreams of acting just yet.

She posted:

"Its true Im workin @Superstar Salon as a makeup artist & more im proud 2 b workin and helpin pay bills BUT ill NEVER lose sight of my dreams.

"Just cause Im part time workin doesn’t mean Im gonna give up on my dreams n don’t give up on urs I might book something big soon keep positive [sic]."
