10 things you never knew about The Beatles
The only day of the week not mentioned in 'Lady Madonna' is Saturday
The hit single 'Lady Madonna' depicts a week in the life of a busy working mother character, struggling to keep up with her discretions and obligations. McCartney recalled: "I was writing the words out to learn it for an American TV show and I realized I missed out Saturday; I did every other day of the week, but I missed out Saturday. So I figured it must have been a real night out!"
The lyrics that feature the other six action-packed days are:
"Friday night arrives without a suitcase.
Sunday morning creeping like a nun.
Monday's child has learned to tie his bootlace, see how they run…
Tuesday afternoon is never ending.
Wednesday morning papers didn’t come.
Thursday night your stockings needed mending, see how they run…"
