10 things you never knew about The Beatles
'Sgt Pepper's' was the first album to print lyrics for every song on its back cover
Previously, the lyrics to popular music were glossed over when it came to featuring them on the album artwork, but The Beatles made history yet again with their classic album 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', after they printed their words on the back cover for all to see.
The album package itself was also something to behold literally. In addition to a gatefold sleeve, the vinyl contained plenty of extra little goodies. Originally the band wanted to include bonuses like pencils and badges but these were vetoed as it would've been too expensive, but Sgt Pepper cut-outs (including the infamous moustache) were included. The iconic album cover ended up costing 100 times the average for its era.
