The Doors - 'When You're Strange'
Expertly mixing live concert footage (some never seen before) with a short film frontman Jim Morrison starred in, all set to brilliant narration by Johnny Depp, 'When You're Strange' explores the music, poetry and madness of one of the greatest (and most tragic) bands of the 60s/70s.
We see a youthful band with their heads in the sky form and be shocked by their near-instant recognition and fame (the first song that guitarist Robby Krieger ever wrote, the hypnotic 'Light My Fire', instantly went No 1), and then see the effects of drugs and drink to their downfall.
At the centre of it all is a portrait of the tortured genius Jim Morrison, charting his onstage antics and personal poetry.
