Pretty much every rock autobiography (aside from Cliff Richard’s) is filled with references to the groupies – the devoted posse of young women who accompany the musicians on tour. But now, here it is from the other side of the story – legendary personal assistant, tour manager and illicit friend of the stars, Chris O’Dell.

In addition to affairs with Bob Dylan and Ringo Starr, O’Dell was Mick Jagger’s regular sleeping partner in the early 1970s, and even did cocaine runs for Keith Richards. Her influence on music stars was so great that she even featured as ‘the mystery woman’ on the Rolling Stones’ ‘Exile on Main Street’ album cover.

George Harrison was so enamored that he wrote a song about her, ‘Miss O’Dell’, which ends with the quiet Beatle’s wail “Won’t you call me, Miss O’Dell?”. Eventually addictions to booze and drugs plagued her life, and now she’s come clean in more ways than one.
