The greatest fake bands in music history
Spinal Tap
Taking hair metal to new hilarity, Spinal Tap are a band so excessive that they seem like the real deal. Invented for the rockumentary classic 'This is Spinal Tap', the band aren't just actors – they're extremely competent musicians and songwriters in their own right.
With classics like 'Tonight I'm Going to Rock You Tonight' how could they not be? Public interest has never waned for the cult band who have since released a follow up album to the hit soundtrack, played at Live Earth and even embarked on a (one-date) world tour!
