The King of Pop
Michael Jackson 1958 -2009
Music legend Michael Jackson died after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Beverly Hills at the age of 50. Paramedics were called after he stopped breathing, but Michael fell into a coma.
His brother, Jermaine, said doctors had tried to resuscitate the star for more than an hour without success. He added: "Allah be with you Michael always. I love you."
Jackson, who had a history of health problems, had been due to stage a series of comeback concerts in the UK, beginning on July 13. However, concerns were raised a month before when four of the dates were postponed, but organisers insisted this was because of the complexity involved in staging the show.
During his life, the world's biggest pop star had his fair share of ups and downs. But ultimately, it will be his music that he will be remembered for the most. Take a look at his life in pictures.
