The King of Pop is born
Michael soon became a dominant figure in popular music. He was the first African-American entertainer to gain a strong cross-cultural following on MTV with his music videos being just as adored as his songs.
His album 'Thriller' is often cited as the best-selling album of all time with hits such as 'Billie Jean' and 'Beat It' and he broke boundaries with his individual style, sound and dance - the moonwalk.
