The National Anthem is being released as a charity single this month in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Sony Music UK has announced that they will release God Save The Queen, for the very first time as a single, in aid of the Chickenshed Theatre Trust, and has been performed by one of their long-term members, Lissa Hermans.
Lissa Hermans stepped out from the Chickenshed ensemble and into the spotlight after singing her moving rendition of God Save The Queen in front of Her Majesty The Queen last month.
She had been performing with the Chickenshed Theatre in celebration of Charles Dickens Bicentenary year. Lissa was then invited by The Queen to a private reception at Buckingham Palace following the event.
A 23-year member of the Chickenshed Theatre, the 30-year-old Lissa Hermans, has always stunned audiences with her singing and musical talent. She amazed Stevie Wonder with her musical genius so much that he presented her with his own special keyboard.
Of performing for the Queen, Lissa said:
"It was a wonderful experience and a privilege. It was completely nerve-racking, but after the performance, I met Her Majesty who told me that she thoroughly enjoyed my performance.
"I am delighted that the song will finally be released as a single."
Lissa Hermans, who is blind, has been a member of the Chickenshed Theatre since she was seven years old and embodies the philosophy that Chickenshed set forth.
The Chickenshed Theatre is a not-for-profit inclusive theatre company that unites people of all abilities to allow them to perform together and to empower one another through creative expression.
Support Lissa and the Chickenshed Theatre by downloading God Save the Queen from 27 May 2012.
