Oscar winning actor dies

Hollywood actor Karl Malden has died at the age of 97.
Malden, best known for his roles in films such as 'A Streetcar Named Desire' and 'On the Waterfront', passed away in his home after suffering from poor health for several years.
His family said he had died of natural causes.
Malden had starred in more than 50 films and was also well known for playing Lt Mike Stone in the long-running TV series, 'The Streets of San Francisco'.
In 1951 he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in 'A Streetcar Named Desire', and was nominated again in 1954.
Other films he starred in included 'Patton', 'One-Eyed Jacks', 'The Cincinnati Kid' and 'Birdman of Alcatraz'.
The actor was married to actress Mona Graham in 1938. They were together for more than 70 years – one of the longest lasting couples in Hollywood.
