Perry scores five People's Choice awards

An absent Katy Perry was the favourite at the People’s Choice Awards on 11 January, after scooping five of the crystal trophies.

Her prizes included Favourite Female Artist and her single E.T won the Song of the Year Award.

The awards ceremony would have been the stars first public appearance since news of her divorce from husband, Russell Brand, however she pulled out of show earlier in the week.

She took to her Twitter page last night to thank her fans for their votes, posting:

Showbiz couple go
their separate ways

"THANK U to every1 who voted for me for the @peopleschoice tonight! We won so many! Now I need to get more book[shelves] 2 successfully display them!" [sic]

The winners, who were voted for by fans, included Emma Stone, who won the Favourite Movie Actress and Favourite Comedic Actress awards.

The Help star, who attended the ceremony with her mother, said:

"It is so insane to be standing up here right now. It is hard to describe to you."

Other winners included Ellen DeGeneres, Chloe Moretz, Maroon 5, Lea Michele and Demi Lovato. Morgan Freeman was also among the winners, accepting the ceremony’s first ever Film Icon award.
