Patsy Palmer gives birth

Eastenders actress Patsy Palmer has given birth to a baby boy, it has been announced.

The actress, who has decided to name her baby Bertie, has spent the last three weeks in hospital after having a scare and has given birth a month early.

Bertie is said to be healthy and is Palmer’s fourth child, her third with cab driver husband Richard Merkell.

A source told The Sun: “Patsy's waters broke a few weeks ago and she was rushed to hospital. To be on the safe side she stayed in. Bertie arrived last Wednesday and the family are all over the moon.”

Palmer returned to Eastenders in 2008 after an absence of nearly a decade. She was also joined in the comeback by her former onscreen husband Ricky.

She brought with her four children, stepdaughter Whitney, and three biological children Laim, Tiffany and Morgan.
