A readers' poll for What's On TV to mark the release of Sylvester Stallone's action ensemble piece 'The Expendables' has revealed its pick of the top 10 action stars of all time. Starting off the list in enduringly sexy style is Sigourney Weaver.

Famed for her aggressive turn as the tough Ellen Ripley in the 'Alien' films, Weaver also lit up James Cameron's Technicolour jungle even more in 'Avatar' but her greatest unsung role in an action film was the sci-fi satire 'Galaxy Quest'. She played a feisty blonde bimbo who repeated everything that the space ship's computer said and managed to get her clothes torn in strategic areas while in perilous danger.
