The top 10 worst movie accents
10. Meryl Streep – ‘Out of Africa’ (1985)
Is there no film that Meryl Streep can’t master? Actually, yes. Her dicey tones in ‘Out of Africa’ make the film’s title somewhat ironic. The film scooped seven Oscars (Streep herself was nominated) and while all the acting is spot on, Streep’s accent is more free-roaming than the lions that stalk the landscape.
The veteran actress plays Baroness Karen Blixen, a Danish woman living in East Africa who falls in love with Robert Redford’s big game hunter character who doesn’t even try to change his American twang. Naturally, it was always going to be a mixed bag. But what about the big screen’s other epic accent misfires? Read on for Empire magazine’s roundup of the 10 worst.
