Robert McCall – ‘The Equalizer’
The late Edward Woodward played McCall – a brooding former secret agent who offers his skills free of charge to those who have trouble that needs shooting. His newspaper ad (which is somewhat of an ‘A Team’ rip-off) reads: "Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer."
McCall gets even with hoodlums, rapists, murderers and other undesirables in this violently gritty 1980s thriller series. Woodward also played a similar hard-bitten character in ‘Callan’ from 1967-1972.
