Few respected action heroes look like a cross between Jon Bon Jovi and Handy Andy, but MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) manages to somehow remain cool. The 80s adventure hero is an institution in his own right.

It’s easy for an action star to shoot at targets and run away from exploding buildings, but MacGuyver is famed for his resourcefulness – he could build a car out of a paper clip and a cardboard box if he wanted to. MacGyver may be a cheesy character, but he scores points for originality even if he narrates his every move.
