It’s got the coolest ever TV theme tune, andn with a leading character to match, ‘Peter Gunn’ went down in television history, despite lasting just three seasons from 1958-1961. Gunn (Craig Stevens) was an effortlessly cool sleuth with a penchant for one liners and getting out of tight spots.

His love of jazz and smart clothes helped distance him from the typical film noir strong, silent detectives. The character and show was created by Blake Edwards – the man behind ‘The Pink Panther’.
