Unforgettably cool TV tough guys
Tony Soprano – ‘The Sopranos’
The gangster genre is usually filled with dozens of equally important characters that make up ‘the family’ as a whole, and ‘The Sopranos’ is no exception. At the forefront of it all is Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), a tough mafia leader who sees a psychiatrist for his personal problems.
This masterstroke helped make his character into one of the best written roles in television history. Never before had such a violent occupation been explored with ferocity and sensitivity in equal measure, but it’s Gandolfini’s larger than life performance as the complex career criminal.
Quote: “I'm serious. The wrong person finds out about this and I get a steel-jacketed anti-depressant right in the back of the head!”
