Shock Voice exitsOnly four acts leftfor Saturday's final
The creators of The Voice UK have admitted that the show is in need of a radical revamp.
The BBC One talent show is in crisis after losing more than half its audience within a few weeks.
The contest, created by John De Mol, pulled in only 5.2million viewers, down from a peak of 12.1million during the battle rounds.
De Mol told The Sun:
"Well have a meeting with the BBC to come up with some new ideas to make the live shows more exciting.
"The role of the coaches can be bigger. In the semi-final, the coaches were just watching the talent perform. They had no influence. Thats something we should change.
"On Saturday, it was 100 per cent up to the audience."
De Mol, who also created Deal or No Deal and Big Brother, added that the show's positivity had contributed to its falling ratings. He said that the show must become more competition-like next season.
Confirming that he would like all four coaches to return, he said:
"Well talk about the coaches with the BBC right after the final this Saturday. As far as Im concerned we have four great characters but its too early to say."
A BBC insider told the newspaper:
"Of course there are things we can learn and we will reflect on the series and make it even better next year."
The Voice UK final will take place on Saturday 3 June on BBC One at 7.20pm.
