Winehouse new album tops chart

Amy Winehouse’s newly released album has topped the charts after it went on sale last week.
The album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, includes some original songs, along with covers which were recorded before the 27-year-olds death earlier this year.
After hearing the news that the album had hit Number 1, Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, took to his twitter page, posting:
"Just been told, Amy at Number One. My heart is sad but bursting with pride."

He admitted that listening to his daughter’s album for the first time was a very difficult experience, telling the Mail Online:
"It was a very difficult time for us. It was very emotional. But we had to sit through it and after the first couple of songs we sort of calmed down a little bit."
Proceeds from the album will go to the Amy Winehouse foundation, which her father set up as a means of helping vulnerable young people both in the UK and abroad.
It was revealed that the album raised £14,000 for the charity in its first day of sales alone.
Mitch also revealed this week that the story of his daughter’s tragic life will never be told in a film. The taxi driver owns all rights to her music and has said that he will instead write a book of memoirs.
Coroners reports say that jazz star Amy passed away on 23 July 2011 due to the consumption of too much alcohol.
