Essential rock'n'roll reads
‘The Stooges: The Authorized and Illustrated Story’ by Robert Matheu
As one of the biggest influences of garage rock, proto-punk and heavy metal, Iggy Pop and the Stooges thrust themselves into public consciousness after forming in 1967 and disbanding just seven years later. They left three classic studio albums in their wake before reforming for another in 2007.
Few people have managed to stay close to the group that saw even their own concerts being bottled by their fans, but rock photographer Robert Matheu snapped them from their earliest shows and throughout the ensuing, frantic madness right up to 2009 shows.
In addition to being packed with iconic photos, classic interviews, vintage articles, full lyrics and new interviews with every band member, this also happens to be the first ever authorized book on the seminal band.
