After an incredible gold victory in the 10,000 metre final, athlete Mo Farah celebrated with his trademark dance move dubbed as the Mobot.
In the Mobot, Farah arches his arms and points his fingers down towards the top of his head to make an ‘M’. The movement was quickly adapted by fans all over Britain.
Just minutes after Mo was seen doing the Mobot, hundreds of Brits posted photos on social networks of their own versions as well. Even Boris Johnson joined in the fun.
The first time the Mobot was seen was when Farah appeared on the panel show on Sky TV entitled A League of Their Own. When Usain Bolt’s famous ‘to di world’ victory pose was mentioned, TV presenter James Corden teased Farah about getting his own pose so it would catch on by the time he joined the London 2012 Olympics.
Clare Balding, who was a guest on the same show, suggested that Farah ‘do the M from the YMCA’ but that it would stand for ‘Mo’. Farah gamely demonstrated it, and Corden christened it as ‘the Mobot’.
And now, sure enough, it became an instant hit among Olympic fans, thanks to Farah’s own efforts in promoting it. Since his appearance on the show, the athlete has continued to do his trademark move whenever possible.
