Controversial games
'MadWorld'
Format of choice: Wii (exclusive)
Released: Spring 2009
Nintendo look set to dramatically transform the Wii's image with this forthcoming 'hack and slash' title. Creators say that this third person game - where players have to use the Wii remote to control the violent on-screen actions of central character Jack - "revolves around the themes of brutality and exhilaration".
However, designer, Shigenori Nishikawa, intends for the extreme, over-the-top violence to be seen in a comical light despite the dark tone. But will this be a piece of clever adult fun or the game that takes the family-themed console to a whole new level?
