Controversial games
'Manhunt'
Format of choice: PS2
Released: 2004
One of the darkest and most violent video game ever made, 'Manhunt' has the player walking in the shoes of James Earl Cash, a man sentenced to death only to find himself given an unexpected and sinister reprieve.
In Britain the game was removed from sale by GAME and Dixons, after being linked to the real-life murder of a 14-year-old boy. And while a sequel has been made, continued arguments with the BBFC have led to it never seeing the light of day here.
