In terms of a third Ghostbusters movie being released, rumours have been flying for years. However Hollywood has never managed to get the complete cast on board. But turning on 'Ghostbusters' the video game has made this a reality.
From the Paramount Pictures credit at the start, the familiar sound of Ecto 1's siren approaching and of course the iconic theme music - this is (to-date) the nearest fans of the hit films are going to get to a sequel.
Even the game's story has been penned by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and it works so well, it feels like the follow-up from the previous two movies has finally arrived.
The icing on the cake that ensures this game really works well, is the voices of Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray are reunited!

Set in 1991 New York, 'Ghostbusters' the game follows on from the 1989 'Ghostbusters 2' film sequel where once again The Big Apple is under attack by a wave of supernatural spirits.
There are hundreds of new characters surprising you throughout the game, but essentially there are some familiar ones too who make a well justified return - enter the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and Slimer!
Players take on the role as the 'Rookie' Ghostbuster, training as a new recruit with the team.
Using the proton pack to capture spirits, it plays like a third person shooter and once you get the hang of persuading the evil spirits into the trap with your proton beam, you begin to enjoy the execution of your tactics more and more.

A slim criticism would be the details of the characters, who at times look awkward and clumsy - and the thought does creep to mind that after playing the game for 10 hours it may become a little dull.
Fortunately, counter-acting this, there are other interesting features such as gradual add-ons for your proton pack, using the PKE meter to track ghosts or exposing their weaknesses by scanning them.
'Ghostbusters' is humorous throughout, filled with cracking one-liners, which bring a dash of 80s comedy to this virtual world with ease.
The game is beautifully nostalgic, but if you have no idea what a proton pack is or what "don't ever cross the streams" means then you may not fully appreciate this title.
If this is the case, then make an investment and buy the movies. Then you will be able to indulge in a fun-filled game that is challenging, action-packed and as individual as they come.
