Another movie sequel, another game spin-off its credentials don't seem overly promising. However 'Night at the Museum 2' isn't the worst movie spin-off game to have ever been released, but it's far from the most gripping.
Players take on the role of super security guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), who needs to explore several museums to stop an Egyptian pharaoh from threatening the world.
The museums are loosely based on the real places which allows players to explore New York's Museum of Natural History, the National Air and Space Museum, and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.

The quest-based gameplay takes you through anything from battling ancient enemies and solving puzzles, to finding hidden treasures by interacting with exhibitions - which magically come alive by nightfall.
There is an array of fun characters - the lovable dinosaur skeleton, hard knocking gangsters and of course the mischievous monkey. But visually they are not impressive, in fact the game doesn't maxiumise the Xbox 360's power in any way. The game is much more suited to Wii quality.

Hollywood actor Ben Stiller naturally lends his voice to the game but even his avid fans would get seriously annoyed at his frustrating one-liners, which - can it be emphasised - happen more than once! On the brighter side the games is criminally short meaning the wise cracks will stop sooner than you think.
'Night at the Museum 2' is a really easy game to play, even for younger players, but the real downfall is that it can be completed in just a few hours, which unfortunately cannot justify the 30 price tag. A fun rental perhaps, though a valuable purchase it certainly is not.
