The Disney Channel's animated TV series 'Phineas and Ferb' has made its video game debut on the Nintendo DS, but can this title match the success of the top rated TV show?
During the long Easter holidays the answer is yes. Especially for parents who need to find some fun-filled holiday entertainment that will keep the little ones from under their feet.
Suitable for children aged three plus, gamers play the lead characters Phineas and Ferb in a series of wacky, fun-filled adventures. The game features a linear storyline mixed with mini-games that are relatively simple and easy to get hooked to.
There are also plenty of fun tasks and challenges. Between completing building activities and riding incredible inventions to building a rollercoaster in the garden - the game certainly has plenty for kids to get their teeth into.
Gamers are also given the option to play Agent P (the family pet platypus who happens to be a secret agent) as he meets Dr. Doofenshmirtz for a one-on-one battle.
Filled with comical mischief, the game also features tell-tale teenage sister Candace, who is always lurking around the corner. More characters make appearances throughout their adventure all of which are well known to those who are a fan of the series.
Along the way, players can collect and use gadgets and objects that give them special powers and help to build their devices. Mini games and puzzles such as 'Wind Blaster', and 'You're so busted!' keep the game exciting and provide a short and snappy break from the main game before advancing on through the levels.
One of the best features however is the use of DGamer, Disney's online community designed exclusively for Disney gamers.
DGamer allows kids to engage with other Disney game players in a secure online community via their Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection or online at www.DGamer.com
This gives kids the chance to chat, view user profiles of their friends, and post high scores to leaderboards.
'Phineas and Ferb' is a great family title that uses all of the Nintendo DS's assets to its advantage such as the stylus which controls really well. It has adapted from the television series accurately so fans will not be disappointed.
