With Valentine's fever sweeping the country it only seems fair to uncover more about a rather romantic Nintendo DS title - however strange it may sound.

So for all game lovers out there here's the score with 'The Chase: Felix Meets Felicity', which is far from the usual hack and slash, blood fest titles that are usually scrutinised under review.

In brief

This light-hearted title is fast-paced, straightforward with a fresh and fun feel. The optically pleasing style, using hand drawn 2D images give the game its own character.

There are little tactics required, and no room for exploring levels. Players simply speed as fast as they can, collect as much as possible before the time is up.

What's the story?

'The Chase' is a tale of love between two young delivery kids who desperately want to go on a date. Players can choose to be Felix or Felicity, although the person you select doesn't affect the game because almost everything is the same either way.

The two meet, fall in love, and plan out a date. But they have no transport to meet each other therefore one has to run to the other as fast as they can, barging past anything that stands in their way, before they get caught in a storm and look terrible for their date.

The controls are easy - to pick up speed simply tap the intended direction and use the downhill slopes to propel to a higher platforms.

By using the stylus, you can draw lines on the touch screen which provides a path. This can then be used to run or jump on. There are limits on the amount of times you can use this, being dependent on how much has been collected and how charged up the meter is. Collecting fruit or jumping through hoops will increase this.

What's the score?

There is a much bigger audience of gamers out there to please these days and 'The Chase' targets the female demographic. But it isn't strictly limited to the ladies. It has an old school arcaded platform feel to it that anyone can enjoy.

The main problem is how limited the player is on exploring the levels. This really isn't an option and for those who love to collect everything possible - it's all about speed.

It also becomes a little repetitive, with 40 levels across eight different zones to tackle before Felix and Felicity actually meet.

However in between the levels, the developing love story between the cute couple, which also hints on what's to come, provides a much needed break beween them.

If you fancy a fun, fluffy game filled with candy pink looking scenes, romance and love all at a similar speed to the retro title 'Zool' (but no where near as cool) - then give this rather different DS release a bash!

'The Chase: Felix Meets Felicity' is available to buy on the high street and online now!
