The evolution of the first person shooter
'GoldenEye 007' (Rare, Ltd / N64)
Released in 1997, this James Bond title did for console shooters what 'Doom' did for their PC counterpart.
'GoldenEye' proved that control pads could take the frantic pace and multiplayer could work in a split screen mode. The game pushed further pushed the genre forward with bullet-hit detection. With 'GoldenEye', where you shot your opponent suddenly mattered.
