'Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis' (Codemasters / PC)

While games such as 'Doom' and 'Unreal' elevated the FPS to a new level they were never too interested in realism. 'Operation Flashpoint' changed that.

Released in 2001, the game was set to a modern day backdrop, introduced many vehicles and aircraft, and pushed the boundaries by increasing view distances hugely.
